Raleigh, North Carolina — Drinking good wine is essential to a successful vacation. Some people like traditional holiday drinks, such as apple cider for Thanksgiving, eggnog and hot chocolate for Christmas, and your favorite champagne to welcome the New Year! Without the drink of your choice to toast, other events such as weddings, anniversaries, and milestone birthdays will be very different. So, all in all, drinking good wine during the holidays is essential.

First of all, I want to say that water is the best choice. We have discovered many ways to make water delicious. We can improve the taste by adding lemon or fruit. I like to see ice trays filled with flowers and fruits to enhance the water experience. During the holidays, it is easy to indulge in everything, I like water is always a choice.

I find that during the holidays, I always search through my various recipes and Pinterest to find the best cocktails and non-alcoholic cocktails. This year, I decided to cooperate with Peace and Saint, a high-end hookah cafe and lounge, offering coffee, wine, locally made pastries and selected hookahs. They have carefully planned a series of cocktails and non-alcoholic cocktails, which you can make in the comfort of your home, or you can try them in their lounge.

I like how the bartender Jules tailors the menu specifically for herself and the city we all love. Here are some of her creations and how she describes them:

Inspired by Cardi B, this cocktail is an impromptu interpretation of the classic margarita with herbal infusion. The green hue of this cocktail comes from the edible glitter that attracts the eye of the beholder. For tequila lovers, this cocktail is our best-selling and the most popular among the staff.

No matter where I go, I like to see this cocktail on the menu. This cocktail is for coffee lovers, night owls and sweet tooth lovers. Depending on the bar, they may make it sweeter or even stronger, and my mixture is seasoned precisely with local products (such as Larry's Cold brew).

This is a cocktail that is open all year round. My version is tequila, not brandy or rum, it can express other flavors better. Sangria can be mobile for anyone, especially during holidays.

Peace and Saint is located in a rural area bordering Raleigh city centre. This is usually a summer non-alcoholic cocktail, but it can be sipped throughout the year. It was inspired by a regular customer who requested a non-alcoholic cocktail containing watermelon. This is perfect for those who do not drink or want to slow down between drinks.

Another frozen mixture inspired by my growth. My dad will make these when the whole family comes to Ramadan during the holidays. We will make a non-alcoholic cocktail version (non-alcoholic) into a batch for everyone to enjoy. This is a refreshing non-alcoholic cocktail that anyone can enjoy at home or at the bar.

I hope this is a good start for a good drink this holiday season. Be sure to head to Peace and Saint to enjoy one of their delicious cocktails and let them know that Kiara from Banana Moon brought it to you!

Kiara Ruth is the mother of 7-year-old Miles and the wife of North Carolina State University professor Terrance Ruth. Kiara and her family recently rescued a 3-year-old dog Oakley. She blogs about her family through the Banana Moon blog.
