Westbury, New York - A Brooklyn man is suing Mystique Hookah Lounge, claiming that the agency was complicit in the 2019 attack on him at the venue. He claimed that Mystique excessively provided alcohol to customers and allowed them to get drunk, which led to the attack.

According to a complaint filed with the Kings County Supreme Court, Jamel Johns was attacked in a hookah lounge at 973 Old Country Road in Westbury on January 12, 2019. The lawsuit alleges that he was attacked by a group of drunk "thugs." He had cuts and bruises on his left arm and hand, and a wound on his left forearm, which he claimed required surgery.

The complaint stated that Mystique Hookah Lounge was responsible for this because its staff were not properly trained and provided customers with drinks, even though they were apparently drunk. The lawsuit also alleges that Mystique did not provide proper training to its employees and did not hire security personnel to ensure the safety of customers.

The lawsuit stated that as a result of the attack, Johns “suffered and continues to suffer extensive physical, mental and emotional injuries, embarrassment and humiliation, and has become ill, painful and disabled...”

Johns is seeking unspecified damages in the lawsuit. The lawsuit requires payment of all losses suffered, plus interest, and "further relief deemed fair and appropriate by this court."
