FARMINGTON HILLS, MI – Four men are facing charges after allegedly tampering with a crime scene to cover up a shooting at their business and then lying to police, The Detroit News reports. A man and a teen are facing charges in the shooting.

The shooting happened in Jan. 29 at Vibe Hookah Lounge in Farmington Hills when Devonte Johnson, 28, of Detroit, allegedly shot one victim in the groin and another in the thigh, the report said. The victims were treated and a local hospital while Johnson and a minor, who allegedly handed Johnson the weapon, went on the run.

Johnson was arrested on Feb. 2 and the minor on Feb. 3, both by the U.S. Marshals. Johnson is charged with two counts of assault causing great bodily harm, three counts of possession of a firearm in the commission of a felony and one count of felony firearm; he was denied bond, the report said. The minor is charged as a juvenile with one count of carrying a concealed weapon and one count of accessory after the fact.

Amar Sinawi, owner of the hookah lounge, and three of his employees are accused of cleaning the scene of the shooting, concealing evidence, removing it from the premises and then lying to police, the report said. Sinawi, 49, of West Bloomfield, is charged with one count of tampering with evidence and one count of lying to a police officer. Baher Hanna, 37, of Novi, is charged with possession of a firearm, carrying a concealed weapon and tampering with evidence. Hilal Haio, 50, of Walled Lake, and Viktor Keqaj, 32, of Farmington Hills, are both charged with tampering with evidence. All four men were released on bond.

“You can’t lie to the police and you can’t cover up a crime scene … We will prosecute you for that,” said Oakland County Prosecutor Karen McDonald.
