One man died and two others were injured in a shooting at a Toms River shopping center early Saturday morning, the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office and Toms River Police Department said in a statement.
The unidentified man who was killed was 29 years old. A 25-year-old and another 29-year-old were also shot in the incident, police said.
Officials said the shooting happened outside 1723 Hooper Avenue in Toms River around 1:20 a.m. The Asbury Park Press identified the location as a business called Top Tier Hookah Lounge, and reported the glass at the front of the business was shattered Saturday. It’s unclear if the shooting was related to the business, which could not immediately be reached.
The 29-year-old man was transported to Community Medical Center in Toms River, where he was later pronounced dead. The other two men were transported to Monmouth County to be treated for their injuries. The 29-year-old man was reported to be in critical but stable condition, and the 25-year-old was treated and released, according to authorities.
